What is...?

Homeopathy was discovered in the late 18th century by a German physician called Samuel Hahnemann who became disillusioned with the conventional system of Medicine of that time.

Homeopathy is based on the law of similars or better on the principle that like cures likes. This means that a substance which in large doses will cause a certain set of symptoms in a healthy person, will also cure that same set of symptoms in a sick person if given in small doses.

Homeopathic medicines are derived from the plant, mineral or animal world and highly diluted and succussed (shaken). This procedure prevents any side or toxic effects from the remedies and guarantees (promotes) gentle and deep healing.

Homeopathy is very popular in Europe and interest in this healing method has risen in the USA over the past 40 years. Many people seek out homeopathy because they want to experience gentle and lasting healing from within without the many side effects some allopathic medications.

Classical Homeopathy seeks to heal a person as a whole being. It works to achieve a balance of their "vital force", i.e. a balance in their mental, emotional and physical state.

It is like tuning a motor and setting it to the right frequency. By doing so it stimulates the person's own healing mechanism.

Homeopathic remedies are approved as OTC by the FDA. They can be safely used for acute ailments in the home or for chronic conditions by consulting with an experienced homeopathic practitioner who will take into consideration the totality of a person's symptoms and carefully select one remedy to achieve a deep balancing of the energetic metabolism of the person.

The process of finding the person's "similimum", the one remedy that will help his entire system to regulate its self in the healthiest manor is called constitutional prescribing.

Healing in Homeopathy is not just a removal of symptoms, but the removal of the disease itself or the problem causing the system to develop certain imbalances. Mere removal of the symptoms without getting to the root of the disease is like cutting a weed rather than pulling it out by its' root.
