June 2, 2021 -  Breathe - In the midst of COVID we talked about the importance of Breath. Our breath is a unique shared experience which is unlike any of the other modules. Prana is life force and types of breathing are pranayama detailed in the Slack articles. How gifted we are to carry our own pharmacy called breath which induces chemical changes to enhance muscle relaxation.

May 12, 2021 - Move - We discussed the importance of movement today and the difficulty when we are limited in movement such as the past 15 months with the COVID restrictions. Our freedom is important with the ability to determine when and where and how we can move. In the USA, perhaps we have taken this privilege for granted. We also can emotionally make movement before we actually move...often the thought precedes the action. This is contemplative movement....self awareness.

April 21, 2021 - Think - Our topic for today on thinking took us all on a great thought exploration. Our lives are constantly in transition and really tomorrow never comes so it is what we think about the now and ourselves that counts. We create our reality in our thoughts.

March 31, 2021 - Eat - Today we discussed consumption or eating with all of the ramifications.  Imagery of all of the steps from wondering what to eat to buying, to preparation and consumption is helpful in creating a successful outcome.  The wonderful point is that we are ready and able to change with the correct input.

March 10, 2021 - Sleep - Today was the start of our 2020 Wholeness Wheel! Once again we have 2 groups, Atrium Health Care APP's and this year we have our Caregivers. Today our session on sleep was an excellent start to understanding the components of health that are modifiable by our behaviors and not require a prescription for change.

January 14 - 21, 2021 - 2nd Delta Wholeness Sail US Virgin Islands!

September 23, 2020 - Soul Self/Wrap Up
This final module is bitter sweet to write.  We accepted that the more we explore and seek answers, the more questions emerge.  We began the discussion of The Story of God with Morgan Freeman with 'Who is God' #2.  Ancient people creating Stonehenge remain a mystery and we might be such a mystery to future civilizations as they dig up our mall in Washington D.C. and see all of the idol statues as well as the numerous monuments to past wars.  It is remarkable that in 1350 B.C. the Pharaoh Aten created the first single deity out of his desire to be the only entity worshiped instead of the polytheists that existed prior to his reign.  Is it possible that our religion as a means of manifesting our spiritual beliefs is in evolution and is subject to current power as well as political influences.  Perhaps the division of church and state is just an illusion.  Neurotheology is attempting to find the 'god within us' by means of PET scanning.  Not so easy or clear. Thinking about the health of our soul, we might consider not judging, feeling more, using experience, appreciating the moments and growing love.  This learning will take a lot of practicing before we will be Masters....maybe the next life.

September 2, 2020 – Priorities
Today we opened up the topic of priorities in our lives and the tremendous number of options that we have in this life.  One of our greatest burdens is the number of choices that we have in this day and age and that in an of itself is a very stressful thing. Choices are acute and chronic and all have consequences.  Making choices in this time of life is different than what we were faced with in our 20's and will still be different in our 80's.  We can reflect on the Blues Zones as a model for options if we want longevity and yet there are sacrifices that we must make to live a long life.  Trade offs.  Consider your barriers or excuses in your life...reevaluate and have no regrets.  This is the last life you will have. Enjoy even in COVID!

August 5, 2020 – Social
Social Summary in the year of COVID: We are struggling this year with the ambiguity posed in social relationships as we try to be with friends and family and still be separate and not contaminate each other.  Masks, goggles, gowns and gloves. Can we be with someone mentally in all of this physical separation?

July 15, 2020 – Environment
Environment is a huge topic and can easily consume entire courses, but we have 45 minutes to highlight some issues. Our internal, external and world environment is changing based on political, cultural and personal ethics.  Still we are responsible for the outcomes of poor water quality, plastics in our oceans and home air pollution from smoking.

June 24, 2020 – Body Care
Body care in the middle of the COVID was our topic today.  We began with a request to slow down and appreciate our bodies as if it was our first car and was to be our only car like our bodies never get replaced.  This is our human vehicle.

June 3, 2020 - Breath
In the midst of COVID we talked about the importance of Breath.  Our breath is a unique shared experience which is unlike any of the other modules.  Prana is life force and types of breathing are pranyama detailed in the Slack articles.

May 20, 2020 – Move
We discussed the importance of movement today and the difficulty when we are limited in movement such as the past 2 months with the COVID restrictions.  Our freedom is important with the ability to determine when and where and how we can move.

April 22, 2020 – Think
Our topic for today on thinking took us all on a great thought exploration.  Our lives are constantly in transition and really tomorrow never comes so it is what we think about the now and ourselves that counts.

April 1, 2020 – Eat
Today we discussed the old saying that 'you are what you eat'.  Looking at our habits and questioning what we typically take for granted will help us to make better choices in our feeding behavior.

March 11, 2020 - Sleep - Today was the start of our 2020 Wholeness Wheel! This year we have 2 groups, Atrium APP's and FFC Caregivers. Today our session on sleep was an excellent start to understanding the components of health that are modifiable by our behaviors and not require a prescription for change.

February 21, 2020

Our founder, Jill Hendra did a live interview with Coastal Daybreak on The Talk Station of Carteret County talking about wellness at all ages

December 10 - 17, 2019 - Our first Delta Wholeness Sail! Exumas, Bahamas

October 4 - 12, 2019 - WOW what a week! In partnership with Fishin for a Cure, Emerald Isle, $156,000.00 was raised during the week. We participated in various fundraising events during the week long fund raiser. What a great group! We announced our Wholeness Sail at the event, looking forward to see who our 6 people will be.

September 4, 2019 - We discussed SOCIAL. We looked at the variety of ways society feeds us and becomes us.  Socius is Latin for friend. Our social selves have so very many components starting with our relationship with ourselves, our families of origin, our families of preference, our communities/neighborhoods, work families, spiritual families and on to the virtual word community.  As we contemplate each of these, we consider their interaction and self re-enforcing qualities.  Do we gain validation or devaluation from our social connections?  We believe that our social connections are the best predictor of our quantity of life and perhaps the quality as well.

July 10, 2019 - We discussed the importance and integration of both BODY CARE and ENVIRONMENT in order to make health and sustain health.  We all have self-care rituals and our heightened consciousness in selection of products that we use as well as how lovingly we care for ourselves will have outcomes.  Many toxins in health products have just the opposite effect on our health.  Our skin is our largest organ and can indicate disease as well as poor nutrition.  The lines on our face tell the past of our emotions.  Be aware of exposure to poor air quality, unfiltered water, high noise levels, intense light, smells that are toxic but we are conditioned to like smoke, and honor yourself if you just do not like something-you are right.

June 25 - 26, 2019 - 5 people with the Spiritual Care Team -Mercy, Atrium Health had an overnight retreat. Loree provided lunches and dinner for the 2 day retreat. They also experienced a restorative yoga class. This is what they said about the retreat -
Our experience at Delta was wonderful!
Very relaxing
Beneficial
Stimulating for creative planning
Calming
Hospitable – great food
Very attentive to every need, while also respecting our space and need for privacy
Homey, a place to breathe again

June 19, 2019 - We focused on the importance of BREATH and that it is a vital force that is within our control and effects all other vital forces, ei heart rate, pH balance, muscle tension, etc.  Panic attacks mostly move 'dead space' air and are ineffective respiration whereas asthma is exacerbated by mood disorder and improves with proper treatment.  Breath like heart rate are contagious and when a group is together there is modulation toward a norm.  We learned/practiced alternating nostril breathing which is purported to help with reduction of anxiety and brain balancing.  The cycle of pain, fear, muscle contraction, rapid breath was discussed the breath being an important focus to break this cycle especially for muscle tension headache and low back pain.-

May 29, 2019 - we talked about MOVE the purpose is to come to a greater realization that when there is no movement there is no life. We discussed the importance of moving.  We started by understanding that even when someone dies, they are still moving on an anatomical level.  ? Confusing.  We move differently at each decade of life and the issues of balance being most important as children and aging.  Society determines the types of movements that are culturally sanctioned with considerations of movement therapies or sports events or transportation like biking.  These issues create a culture of reinforcement to movement or not.  Visualizing yourself exercising will give a 10% benefit even if you do not move.  ?Really...how can that be?  Placebo effect for movement?  We began to talk about the importance of the Blue Zones of the world where people live 10% longer and probably happier than the rest of the world. The integration of movement into the lifestyle seems to be the most important factor in its benefit.  The goal is not the outcome of the exercise, but the process is the ultimate benefit.

April 17, 2019 - We dove into the issues of how and even why we THINK.  We detailed the huge issue of placebo effect and the ultimate power that our mind holds when we adhere to our beliefs. We understand very little in our world and everything is interrelated.  The documentary "Heal" is posted to nudge more depth of thought.  The concept of 'who suffers' when we are judgmental was contemplated.  We suffer.

March 27, 2019 - We worked the second module that is named EAT, but it really is about consumption.  We are impacted by all that we think about food and the environment in which we consume it.  We must fuel ourselves to renew and therefore a starving person will not benefit from medication alone.  Being mindful in our shopping as well as the preparation and eating will give us better health.  Our patients are effected the same and may benefit from changing their habits instead of jumping to a medication to treat indigestion.  Our world is here to change or be changed by it.  Let us meditate on healthy consumption for the next 3 weeks and share the impact on our behavior with being more mindful. Please stay well.

March 6, 2019 - This is the start of our training with the residents of Atrium HealthCare. We will meet every 3 weeks, ending on September 11, 2019. Today we had a bit of conversation about the Wholeness Wheel. We also reviewed the outline for expectations as well as the didatic goals and objectivies created for the residents. We reviewed the importance of the rituals pre-and post-sleep and reflected on her preconceptions past experiences about sleep.  The importance of SLEEP with was emphasized.

Hopefully 10 minutes of meditation will be utilized in the morning with the possible journaling after to emphasize the new thought process and reinforced neurocognitive change.

**October 12, 2018 - We welcomed into our apartment a family that lost their home due to hurricane Michael. We agreed to let them stay until December. During this time, we will not have any onsite Delta events. **They have asked if we will do a short term lease for them from December - May 2019. We will not have any onsite Delta Events during this time.
